About Amy Chua

Amy Chua is a professor at Yale Law School and a sought-after lecturer on the topic of globalization. She is the author of the book World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability, which challenges the American assumption that the combination of democracy and free markets is necessarily a good thing. She explores the ethnic conflict in many countries that is caused by the disproportionate economic and political influence of market-dominant minorities and the resulting resentment among the less-affluent majority. Her book was selected by The Economist as one of the best books of 2003 and by The Guardian as one of the “Top Political Reads” of the year.
