About Jonathan Alter
Jonathan Alter is an award-winning columnist, author, and historian. Since 1991, he has written a widely-acclaimed column for Newsweek magazine, examining politics, media, and global issues. In 2008, he covered his seventh presidential campaign for the magazine. He is a political analyst for NBC News and MSNBC and the author of the 2006 book The Defining Moment: FDR’s Hundred Days and the Triumph of Hope. His latest book is The Promise: President Obama, Year One, which offers the first inside look at the president’s historic and challenging debut year.
