About Tom Diaz

Tom Diaz is senior policy analyst at the Violence Policy Center in Washington, D.C. He is a specialist on gun policy, the firearms industry, terrorism, and crime and law enforcement. He is the author of Making a Killing: The Business of Guns in America, which examines the gun industry from the development of increasingly lethal guns to marketing strategies that are targeted at women, children, and ethnic and racial minorities. He served as counsel to the House Subcommittee on Crime and Criminal Justice from 1993 to 1997 and was the lead Democratic counsel in the House on firearms and terrorism. Prior to working for Congress, Diaz worked on terrorism and international organized crime at the National Strategy Information Center in Washington. He is a graduate of the University of Florida and the Georgetown University Law Center where he was editor of the Law Journal.
