About Daniel Kemmis
Daniel Kemmis is the former mayor of Missoula, Montana, a former speaker and minority leader of the Montana House of Representatives, and a four-term Montana legislator. He believes that, for generations of Americans, the places we inhabit are an essential part of who we are, and that we are shaped by where we come from and where we live. Widely regarded as one of the country’s leading contemporary thinkers, he was awarded the Charles Frankel Prize by President Clinton for his contributions to the humanities. He is currently the director of the Center for the Rocky Mountain West at the University of Montana. He is the author of the books Community and the Politics of Place andThe Good City and the Good Life.
