About Pedro Jose Greer
Pedro José Greer practices medicine at Mercy Hospital in Miami in the field of gastroenterology, and he is assistant dean for homeless education at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He is widely published on issues of policy and poverty in the United States. His pioneering work with poor, homeless, and migrant populations in Miami is captured in his book Waking Up in America. He has lectured at Harvard University and Emory University, and he serves as a trustee for the RAND Corporation, America’s oldest think tank. In his presentation, he will discuss the nation’s ethical responsibility to address the health care needs of the poor.
