About David Hemenway
David Hemenway is an economist, professor of health policy at the Harvard School of Public Health, and Director of the Harvard Youth Violence Prevention Center. In his recent book, Private Guns, Public Health, he addresses the problem of gun violence in America from a public health perspective. Identifying firearms as the second leading cause of injury-death in our country, he asserts that if any other consumer product had this disastrous impact, the public outcry would be deafening. He explores the advantages of treating gun violence as a public health problem and offers a commonsense plan for ending a uniquely American epidemic.
