About Betty Rollin
Betty Rollin is an NBC News correspondent and bestselling author. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, she has earned DuPont and Emmy awards for her reporting. In both 1975 and 1984, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she shared the story of her diagnoses and recovery in her book First, You Cry. In 1981, her mother, Ida, was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer, and, at her mother’s request, she helped her end her life in 1983. She recounted the story of her mother’s journey in the book Last Wish. Today, the author is an advocate and activist in the Death with Dignity movement.
