About Pedro Zamora
Pedro Zamora is a Cuban-American AIDS educator. In 1989, as a junior in high school, he was diagnosed with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Since then, he has turned his personal tragedy into a national campaign to educate his peers on HIV/AIDS, speaking at schools, PTA meetings, and churches, and appearing on national talk shows. He came to the United States at the age of eight when he and his family left Cuba during the 1980 Mariel Boat Lift.
