About Walter Russell Mead

Walter Russell Mead is a political economist studying the evolving global economic system and its implications for American policy and society. He serves as Senior Policy Adviser at the World Policy Institute of the New School for Social Research in New York City, and he directs the Institute’s international economy project. He argues that the U. S. lacks a strategic perspective on international economic issues that would allow it to reduce its budget and trade deficits without undercutting international economic growth. He is a contributing editor at Harper’s and the Los Angeles Times.
