About Robert Ballard
Robert Ballard is the director of the Center for Marine Exploration at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts and the director and founder of the JASON Foundation for Education. He is a marine scientist and oceanographic explorer, using advanced deep-water exploration technology to study the ocean floor. He is the author or co-author of more than fifty journal articles and scientific papers and the recipient of numerous scientific awards. He has led or participated in nearly 100 deep-sea expeditions, including the expeditions that discovered the R.M.S. Titanic and the German battleship Bismarck.
