About Amy Tan

Amy Tan began writing fiction in 1985 as an alternative to her work as a freelance business writer. She published her first short story in a literary magazine in 1986, and in 1989, a collection of short stories became her bestselling novel, The Joy Luck Club. The novel was adapted into an award-winning feature film in 1993. Her second novel, The Kitchen God’s Wife, was published in 1991.
