About Robert Putnam

Robert Putnam is the Peter and Isabel Malkin Professor of Public Policy at Harvard University. He served as Dean of the John F. Kennedy School of Government and is past president of the American Political Science Association. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of the British Academy, and founder of the Saguaro Seminar, which brings together leading thinkers and practitioners to develop actionable ideas for civic renewal. He is the author of a dozen books, including Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community. He researches the impact that the decline of community has had on our civic and personal health, exploring the reasons for this decline and offering hope for reversing the consequences of a destructive social trend.
