About Douglas Edwards
Douglas Edwards is a journalist and broadcaster for both radio and television news. He was network television’s first anchor, hosting a nightly news program for CBS. During World War II, he was assigned to CBS’s London bureau where he worked with Edward R. Murrow. He joined Murrow and Quincy Howe on CBS radio for their acclaimed coverage of the 1948 presidential conventions. He was one of the first television reporters to work on location, reporting news from around the world. In 1956, he received the George Foster Peabody Award for best television news. Among the people he interviewed during his career were Winston Churchill, Eleanor Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy.
